- Teunissen as road captain is huge for Tejada’s GC hopes. TTT work at altitude every three days sounds intense, but shaving those seconds to finish 10th instead of 18th could keep Harold in the game after week one. Fingers crossed.

- If Tarling’s out and Ganna’s questionable, who’s taking up the TT load? Does INEOS even target the opening TT anymore or is it all about breakaways and medium mountain stages?

- Love the idea of Bernal + Arensman as co-leaders again. If Vauquelin can’t go, you lean into stage-hunting and a stealth GC for Thymen. Worked in the Giro, could work here with the TDF chaos this year.

- Plapp for a breakaway TT-style raid on a rolling stage, bitte! Loved his engine last year — give him freedom when the GC is locked down. Allez Jayco!

- O’Connor’s stage win pedigree is real. Two brutal mountain wins already in the bank, plus that 2021 4th overall — if the team protects him on crosswind stages and nails nutrition on the long transfers, top 5 GC isn’t crazy at all.

- Wait, the article says he missed last year due to illness and also had a crash earlier this year — is he fully race-sharp? How many race days has Matthews had since returning?

- Not sure about calling Engelhardt “known as an all-rounder with excellent climbing” at Tour level. He’s solid, but those long Alpine days are a different beast. Prove me wrong, Felix!

- Great to see Bling back after that crash. If Matthews can survive the medium mountain stages, he’ll sniff out a punchy finish or two. Also keen to see how they split leadership with O’Connor for GC and Ackermann for pure sprints — could get tricky on leadout resources.

Bloody hell, Visma’s snakebit this season. Guardrail scenes were grim. Still, no broken bones = small win. Now please bubble-wrap the rest of the squad till Florence.

Che peccato per Affini. Forza Edoardo, rimettiti presto!
