Shoutout to the break riders—Pridal, Brand, Uriarte, and Danny van der Tuuk—did what they could, but they never stood a chance once BORA lit it up. If the team keeps riding like this, we might see Pithie take another stage—and Marit snag one too if the finish suits him.

Wild that Slovenia didn’t get Pog or Rog this year, but this kind of racing absolutely delivered anyway. Only ~40 guys left at the front on a flat-ish stage says everything about the pace. Also, Arne Marit finishing second after leading out… that’s some serious legs.

Feel a bit for Bahrain—Zambanini and Bruttomesso made the split and still ran into the BORA wall. That last 30 km was a masterclass in control. Curious to see if Lipowitz goes for a bonus-seconds GC tease later in the week.

You could tell the plan was to rip the race early once they started chewing into the break so fast. By the time they hit those small hills, half the pure sprinters were in the red. Textbook team execution. Pithie’s timing in the last 200m looked perfect.

What a statement from Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe. Turning a “sprinters’ stage” into a selective slugfest on the lumps was genius. Pithie finishing it after Marit’s monster lead-out was clinical. Also props to Lipowitz and Pellizzari for doing the dirty work—GC legs helping the sprinters, love to see it.

- Respect for keeping the Tour focus on PFP while still backing herself when the door opens. That blend of humility and killer instinct is why she’s becoming a fan favorite. Enjoy this win, Femke — well deserved!

- Visma picking her up mid-2024 and extending to 2028 looks like a masterstroke now. Fifth in Catalonia, second in Ardèche, Giro top-6, UAE podium… the trajectory is so real. Late bloomer tag suits her, but the ceiling might be even higher.

- Loved her honesty about second-guessing the attack at 23 km and then fully committing. That’s race craft you can’t teach. Also, holding off Dickson after cramps in that heat? Serious grit.

- What a story. From junior doctor to WorldTour winner in two seasons — and doing it with such composure on that 12% wall. You could see how calm she was in the finale. Huge congrats, Femke!

Selfishly disappointed as a fan—Wout lights up every race he enters. But I hope he takes whatever time he needs and maybe comes back for Worlds or late-season classics if it fits. Get well soon, champ.
