For Demi Vollering, the 2026 cycling season has come to an end—and what a year it was. The Dutch rider from FDJ-SUEZ won almost everything there was to win and added two major highlights: the European title and, most notably, the rainbow jersey, earned in Canada. After such a fabulous season, she's definitely earned the right to brag. Read more below the photo!
Vollering says she cannot wait to race in the rainbow jersey in 2027
Vollering had an historic season
Vollering got off to a phenomenal start this year. In the spring, she triumphed at the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, the Tour of Flanders, the Flèche Wallonne, and Liège–Bastogne–Liège. She then went on to win the
Giro d’Italia, thanks to a spectacular move in the final stage. After winning the pink jersey, her next goal was, of course, the
yellow jersey in the Tour de France Femmes.Things were looking good, but the defeat on Mont Ventoux against
Kasia Niewiadoma was painful. But Vollering didn’t give up. With yet another fantastic strategy, she outclassed the Polish rider in the penultimate stage, then sealed the deal in the final stage around Nice. That’s how she won the
Tour de France Femmes for the second time. But perhaps the
biggest goal was that rainbow jersey. Vollering had already won almost everything, but she hadn’t managed to become world champion. In Montreal, she gave it her all. With a rock-solid team and an incredible display of resilience, she finally clinched that world title. She then
defended her European title in Slovenia, and the
season couldn’t have ended any better.Read more below the video!
A crazy helicopter Ride for Vollering, Who shows off her jerseys
After an eight-month season,
Demi Vollering’s racing year came to an end following those European Championships. Her sights will gradually turn back toward 2027. There was no sign of rest yet: she already mentioned that after the European Championships, with a busy October ahead of her. It looked like it was going to be fun, as seen on
Instagram. With some help, she took a beautiful and spectacular helicopter ride.
But during a training ride, she also got to
show off her new jerseys for a bit. The UCI doesn’t allow the various championship jerseys to be worn together, so Vollering had to improvise: why not just ride while wearing both outfits? There’s probably no more satisfying way to show off. And let’s be honest: she’s earned it.
