Tom Pidcock is spending a week in Chile, South America, with a select group from Pinarello-Q36.5 Pro Cycling as part of his early-season build-up. The British leader is preparing for a busy spring campaign at altitudes approaching 3,000 m, and the first glimpses from sun-soaked Chile — shared by Pidcock’s teammates on social media — have delivered plenty of spectacle.

The decision to train in Chile was driven by several factors, according to Pinarello-Q36.5 Head of Performance Kurt Bogaerts. Chile offers more favourable weather than Tenerife or parts of Spain at this time of year, and it’s less crowded with other teams also doing early-season camps. “A significant financial investment,” Bogaerts recently remarked, but one the team clearly believes is worthwhile.
Pidcock flew to South America alongside teammates Brent Van Moer, Xandro Meurisse, Quinten Hermans, Thomas Gloag, Fred Wright and Fabio Christen. After a short period of acclimatisation, the bikes were soon out. Through posts from Van Moer, Hermans and Christen, fans have already seen stunning footage of gravel tracks, goat paths and empty asphalt descents.

According to his coach, Pidcock specifically requested tyres that would let him stray off the beaten path, and that decision has paid off. In a reel shared by Christen, the Brit showed off his descending skills on a steep, rough trail. It’s unclear how much of the camp followed suit, but the next day, Pidcock grabbed attention again — this time with a wheelie contest against a Chilean rider. The local won the challenge in a clip that’s almost dizzying to watch.
Pidcock’s 2026 season officially begins on 13 February at the Vuelta a la Región de Murcia in Spain, followed by Clásica Jaén and Ruta del Sol. In spring classics, the man who finished third at the 2025 Vuelta a España returns to favourites like Strade Bianche and will once more test himself against Mathieu van der Poel and Tadej Pogačar at Milan-Sanremo. Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Milan-Turin are also on his agenda.
