A number of top women were absent from In Flanders Fields on Sunday, but that will be very different at Dwars door Vlaanderen on Wednesday. Demi Vollering will return to competition for FDJ-SUEZ there as part of her build-up to the Tour of Flanders on Sunday.

A few days ago, Vollering and her team had to leave Mount Teide in a hurry because of an approaching snowstorm, after which she briefly returned home to Switzerland. The weather there was wintry too. “I didn’t expect to see snow. Luckily it wasn’t that cold and I was still able to train outside. In any case, I’m ready for some nice classic weather,” Vollering said on Instagram before travelling to Belgium.

Vollering will start Dwars door Vlaanderen on Wednesday with a powerful line-up around her. Strade Bianche winner Elise Chabbey is part of the team, as is Franziska Koch, who has also been riding well this season and finished fourth in In Flanders Fields on Sunday.
Sofia Bertizzolo, Ally Wollaston and Amber Kraak complete the FDJ-SUEZ selection for Dwars door Vlaanderen. In Waregem, Vollering is set to come up against several major names, including Lotte Kopecky, Marlen Reusser, Marianne Vos, Puck Pieterse, Elisa Longo Borghini and Kim Le Court.
