Towards the end of the cycling season, more and more riders are competing in the last race of their careers. For Pierre Latour, that would be next week's Chrono des Nations, but his participation in that race is now hanging by a thread. The Frenchman from TotalEnergies was hit by a car during training, which could mean the end of his professional career. The now 31-year-old Frenchman secured a professional contract with AG2R La Mondiale through an internship with the same team. The Frenchman, born in Romans-sur-Isère, started working there in 2015 and immediately scored his first victory that year: stage four of the Tour de l'Ain.
A year later, the most significant victory of his career would follow in the Vuelta a España. In the penultimate stage of the Tour of Spain, the then 22-year-old Latour won at the top of the grueling Alto de Altaina. After six years with AG2R, he moved to TotalEnergies in 2021, where he has competed for the past five years.
There, the Frenchman enjoyed
new successes, but unfortunately for him, he was no longer able to match the level of that Vuelta victory. As a result, his career is slowly but surely coming to an end, and we only found the Chrono des Nations, which will be held next Sunday, on his schedule for this year.

Latour hit during training: "Pierre was taken to the emergency room," says father Claude
His participation in that race is now uncertain, as Latour was hit during training, according to
Dauphiné Libéré. On Tuesday afternoon, the Frenchman reportedly collided with a delivery van in the Drôme. Latour fell hard after hitting the van's mirror.
"It was probably one of the very last training sessions I did with Pierre," his father, Claude, explained to the French media. "I was following him, as usual, on my scooter, when his arm hit the mirror of a delivery van. The driver didn't see him coming on this winding road."
“Pierre was taken to the emergency room at the hospital,” Claude Latour continues. “We thought his arm was broken. In the end, that wasn't the case, but he was seriously injured.” Nevertheless, it is bad news for the French cyclist, as his father adds: “He was supposed to end his professional career after the Chronos des Nations from October 17 to 20 in Les Herbiers. I feel like that has already happened...”
