Jonas Vingegaard now knows who his teammates will be as he starts his quest for a third overall victory in the Tour de France. Visma | Lease a Bike announced the team selection for the race during a live preview on Tuesday, after which the team leader himself spoke from Tignes. Vingegaard was there for an altitude training camp between the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France.

Vingegaard will be supported in the Tour de France by three riders who were also part of the team in the Giro: Sepp Kuss, Victor Campenaerts, and Davide Piganzoli, who is making his debut and replacing Wout van Aert. In addition, Matteo Jorgenson, Bruno Armirail, and Edoardo Affini will join the team as experienced riders in Barcelona, where the Tour begins with a team time trial. Per Strand Hagenes rounds out the team.
The Danish team leader is confident that he can beat Tadej Pogacar with this team. “I have a lot of confidence in myself, and that rubs off on the other guys. They really believe in our plan and believe it’s possible to win the Tour de France again. It’s already been three years since I last won it.”

Vingegaard finally feels like his old self again

"Of course, it's been a major goal for me in recent years. There have been some setbacks, but I feel like I've put that behind me now," said the winner of the Giro d'Italia during his training camp in mid-June.
"I finished the Giro on a high note, with five stage wins for me, one for Sepp, and the overall title to boot. So it was definitely a good race for us. That gives us confidence, but also the belief that we can win the Tour."
In closing, Vingegaard offered a brief glimpse into the process he has gone through recently. “I’ve grown into being more myself again. It took me some time, but now I finally feel like I’m the same person I was before all those setbacks. And I even feel like I’ve come even further and am a stronger version of myself than I was back then,” he says, referring to his victories in 2022 and 2023.
