Like three musketeers, they crossed the finish line in the mountains near Madrid. The Jumbo-Visma trio of Sepp Kuss, Jonas Vingegaard and Primoz Roglic continued to dominate the Vuelta even in the penultimate stage, allowing the American to ultimately win the stage. This brought about relief, joy and much more.
"I am so relieved. Right now, I'm still recovering from that last climb, but we're almost there," he said one day before the final stage in Madrid. "For this stage, this was the situation we wanted. The guys controlled the breakaway perfectly, and I have to thank them for that. Robert Gesink and Dylan van Baarle spent ninety percent of the stage at the front, but it was still a long, tough day. I have to tip my hat to them; they are amazing," Kuss thanked his Dutch teammates who did a lot of work for him in this Vuelta.

Kuss on special moments with teammates and family

"Attila Valter then took over for that final climb, and then Primoz took over," Kuss continued the list. "On the flat, Jonas also joined us, which was something I had never imagined. It was very special to then share that final kilometer with them, in a relaxed manner during a mountain stage. That was really cool, but I don't think it has fully sunk in yet."
After the stage, Kuss fell into the arms of his family. "That was the most special moment of all, being able to share this with them. In the end, that's what it's all about," said the ecstatic man from Durango, United States. Kuss was also caught on camera after the race telling Roglic and Vingegaard "never again" - likely referring to the stress that came with being the leader in this Vuelta.
