Many cycling fans watched the wonderful news about Pauline Ferrand-Prévot and Dylan van Baarle with big smiles on their faces. The couple said “I do” and got married. But they weren’t the only ones in the peloton with happy news to share. Mattias Skjelmose and Nathan Van Hooydonck are also on cloud nine.

Two weddings in the bunch this off season

Ferrand-Prévot and Van Baarle have been a couple for over three years, and at the end of the 2025 cycling season, the Dutchman got down on one knee to propose to his girlfriend. She said yes, and this weekend was finally “the best day of their lives” for the couple. They’re married! It made for some beautiful photos.
But there’s actually someone else in the peloton who’s tied the knot. Mattias Skjelmose also had some great news. After an outstanding season—in which the Danish rider from Lidl-Trek finished second in the Amstel Gold Race and sixth in the Tour de France—the real highlight was yet to come: he and his girlfriend Victoria Englund celebrated their wedding day in Copenhagen, as he shared on social media.

Van Hooydonck becomes a father for the third time

Nathan Van Hooydonck also had some wonderful news. The former cyclist was forced to retire from cycling in 2023 due to heart problems, but remained involved in the sport. Next season, he will be promoted at Visma | Lease a Bike: the 31-year-old Belgian will become team director at the Dutch team where he was such an important rider.
But life away from cycling also gave him a little more freedom. After he and his wife Alicia had previously lost a baby, they welcomed their first son, Alessio, in 2023. In April 2025, their daughter Isabella was born, and now the couple has welcomed a third child: a son named Sandro. “Our family is complete, and we’re enjoying every moment together,” Van Hooydonck said on Instagram.
