For example, we see that Wout van Aert headed to the United States on Tuesday, where he battled jet lag through a run.

This turned out to be California - where Cérvelo's headquarters are located -, where the Belgian took off his running shoes for a lap from Laguna Beach at 6 a.m. local time Tuesday morning. Van Aert ran for nearly half an hour through the Pacific Coast hills, good for a distance of 5.81 kilometers.

Van Aert does not yet know when he will cross country
On Saturday he participated in Tim Declercq's farewell criterium, where he was also asked about his cross plans. 'I started training cautiously the past few weeks, the real preparation can start in about 10 days. First I want to wait and see how it all feels to make a realistic plan.'
'I also have to take into account the road season which is coming: a little more patience,' said the Belgian. 'The plan was first to start the cross earlier. Now I have to see what time is realistic, because there are several things to take into account.'
Tom van der Salm (27) comes from the charming town of Zeilberg (Deurne) in the Netherlands and has been working as editor-in-chief & journalist at IDL Pro Cycling's parent site, In de Leiderstrui, since 2019. He travels with the peloton from the Tour de France to the AlUla Tour and from the World Championships in Rwanda or Canada to the Zilvermeercross in Mol.
