NSN Cycling kicks off the new week of cycling transfers and lands a huge, pink fish: 'There’s so much potential'

NSN has signed Kasper Asgreen to a two-year contract. The 31-year-old Dane is leaving EF Education-EasyPost and hopes to breathe new life into his career with Andres Iniesta’s team. In a press release, both Asgreen and NSN expressed enthusiasm about the partnership.

Asgreen is a big name for NSN, which is bringing in the Dane to strengthen its core group of classic racers. “When Kjell Carlström (team manager, ed.) approached me, it was great to hear that they were really eager to sign me, as well as to hear about their plans for what we can bring to the team.”

"We can win races together, instead of me having to do it alone. I can play a role in that," said Asgreen. "Of course, I like to win myself—don't get me wrong. But I also enjoy working successfully with the people around me."

"Shared motivation and direction were the main reasons for joining this team," Asgreen explains further. With races such as Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, the E3, the Tour of Flanders, and stage victories in the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France on his resume, Asgreen is a big name.

Asgreen still has several goals for the coming years, but the classics are the most important among them. “That’s where I made my breakthrough, and those are the races I enjoy the most. NSN already has a strong classics team, and there’s so much potential.”

That’s what I hope to achieve over the next two years. “I hope to mentor the guys and put my experience to good use. I’ve already won a stage in the Tour and the Giro, so the next step would be to win a stage in the Vuelta a España. The World Time Trial Championships are also a goal of mine.”
