Pedersen bows his head to Kooij for the second time in Paris-Nice: "Olav is just faster in a sprint like this"

Mads Pedersen had to bow his head to Olav Kooij once again in the mass sprint of Paris-Nice, just like in the second stage. In doing so, the Lidl-Trek sprinter strengthened his lead in the points classification for the green jersey, but that was not what the Dane came to France for.

"I am here to win a stage," Pedersen said in the flash interview. "I have this jersey now and that's okay, but it's not what I came for. We will keep fighting for a victory, at least for the team. Then we will see whether I still have the green once we reach Nice. If I could I have done something differently today? Yes, win," he laughed.

"The sprint went pretty well," Pedersen recounted. "I had a good lead-out, and we did well, but I was just beaten by someone who was faster. It is what it is. Olav is just faster in a sprint like this. In a high-speed sprint like this, he is super, super fast. It's not even easy for me to get alongside him. Today, he also came from the slipstream, with a lot of speed. I have no excuses: he is just faster. Hopefully, I'll get another chance tomorrow."
