Pidcock and Roglic on the same team for 2027? 'An option', according to transfer rumors

Primož Roglič is set to leave Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe, but where will the 36-year-old Slovenian go? He reportedly wants to continue racing for at least another year, and several typically well-informed cycling journalists claim that Pinarello-Q36.5 is in the running. Tom Pidcock and Roglic on the same team? It’s “an option.”

Roglic is currently training hard to be in top form for the Vuelta a España in August. There, he hopes to secure a fifth—and record-breaking—overall victory before his time with Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe gradually comes to an end. His expiring contract with the German team will not be renewed, as has already been confirmed by the team itself.

After eight seasons with Jumbo-Visma and three with Red Bull, the big question is: Who will sign Roglic? His results in 2026 weren’t great and fell far short of what you’d expect from a rider who already has 92 victories to his name. There are, of course, plenty of teams that are still interested in working with him.

Pinarello-Q36.5 is one of them. The team is ambitious and has already been linked with Paul Seixas, but for 2027, they’re banking on Roglic. The Slovenian would be the team’s second big name, following Pidcock’s signing in 2025. The Brit made a huge leap in his development while riding for the Pro Continental team, with his third-place finish in last year’s Vuelta a España serving as the best proof of that.

Could Pinarello-Q36.5 give Roglic another boost? Transfer expert Daniel Benson emphasizes that the two parties are certainly not at an agreement yet, but now that Bahrain Victorious has denied any interest and XDS Astana appears to be going for Aleksandr Vlasov (also Red Bull), the chances are indeed higher. Pinarello-Q36.5 is said to have already secured the signatures of Mauro Schmid (Jayco AlUla) and Pavel Bittner (Picnic PostNL).

La Gazzetta dello Sport confirms the rumors surrounding Roglic, which generally lends credibility to a rumor. The Italian sports newspaper does emphasize, however: “Pinarello-Q36.5 is an option for Roglic. There is no deal yet, but we understand that it is a possibility, according to our sources.'
