The cycling fall season is now in full swing. Of course, the Vuelta a España takes center stage, but there are other great races taking place in the shadow of the Spanish grand tour—the Tour of Britain, for example, where many big names will be competing again this season. IDLProCycling.com shows you what to expect! The Tour of Britain has always been kind to Dutch and Belgian riders. Four Dutch riders have won in the last fifteen years, with our classic stars Dylan van Baarle (2014), Lars Boom (2011, 2017), and Mathieu van der Poel in 2019.
Two years ago, the victory went to a Belgian: Wout van Aert and Jumbo-Visma
made their mark on the stage race. Two years earlier, the superstar from Herentals also won the overall classification, but he will not be able to do so this season. Van Aert will not be riding, unlike
Remco Evenepoel.

Favorites final classification Tour of Britain 2025
The Tour of Britain has laid out a challenging course for the riders, with three flat stages, a punchy stage, a (semi-)mountainous stage, and a final day that could go either way. So, no time trial, but we still give Remco Evenepoel the best chance of overall victory. The Belgian from Soudal Quick-Step - who has Ilan Van Wilder at his side - is making his comeback in Great Britain after his Tour abandonment.
The British will be hoping for success from Oscar Onley (Picnic PostNL), who, unlike Evenepoel, had a successful Tour. In an optimistic scenario, Geraint Thomas will also be in contention, but the Welshman will probably just enjoy his last race. INEOS can count on Tour revelation Thymen Arensman for the GC.
Several punchy riders will also be competing for the GC. Romain Grégoire (Groupama-FDJ), Joe Blackmore (Israel-Premier Tech), Florian Vermeersch, Igor Arrieta (UAE Emirates-XRG), Aurélien Paret-Peintre (Decathlon AG2R), Julian Alaphilippe (Tudor) and perhaps even Thomas Gloag or Matthew Brennan (Visma | Lease a Bike) could try their luck.
We also note a few other contenders on the list of participants, such as Andreas Leknessund (Uno-X) and the experienced Lidl-Trek trio of Tao Geoghegan Hart, Lennard Kämna, and Bauke Mollema. For the latter, this race serves as a stepping stone towards the World Championships in Rwanda, his primary goal for this fall.
