On Thursday, the RCS organized the press conference for the Giro d'Italia. The Italian race organizers selected Wout van Aert, Primoz Roglic, Juan Ayuso, Richard Carapaz, Tom Pidcock, Giulio Ciccone, Egan Bernal, and Romain Bardet to attend. The first seven eventually showed up in Tirana.
Most of the top riders had already told their stories to the camera crews present at the team presentation in the Albanian capital on Wednesday evening and, in van Aert's case, even the entire press, so it would not have been a pleasant interlude for the men. Especially since traffic in Tirana during rush hour is anything but cooperative, it can take quite some time to cover the few kilometers to the hotel.
Anyway, in the end, they are all professional enough to know that it's part of the job—and for some more than others. Carapaz remained silent, as usual. Roglic gave the expected answers, and you can always count on men like Van Aert, Ayuso, and Bernal for something interesting to say.

Roglic and Van Aert joke around during press conference

The funniest moments came when Roglic was asked for his opinion of van Aert, who was sitting next to him. Upon arrival, Van Aert greeted Roglic with 'buddy.' The two are former teammates at Jumbo-Visma, so naturally, there were smiles all around. "Wout is more than a cyclist to me; he will also have many opportunities for success here. And they have a powerful team, of course, at Visma | Lease a Bike."
A Slovenian journalist then turned the question to van Aert, who jokingly replied, "No comment." "I see Primoz as one of the top favorites. He has won so much, and he always stays positive. You can never count him out," he said, giving the Slovenian journalist a fitting response.
