While the majority of Visma | Lease a Bike took a flight home after the team stage in Spain, Wout van Aert - who also won the Benidorm cyclo-cross race there - and Tiesj Benoot stayed a bit longer. The two Belgians are staying in Dénia, but they are far from idle. On Wednesday morning, Van Aert and Benoot set out for a hilly running trip, even before the Spanish sun rose.
According to Van Aert's Strava data, the two completed a run of 8.83 kilometers, incorporating 257 meters of elevation gain, in 46 minutes and 48 seconds. Those who view the file will see a winding path through the Parc Natural del Montgó.
Now is a great time of year to be in Spain. At the Costa Blanca, temperatures are well above 20 degrees Celsius. That is why, after the training camp in Mutxamel, Van Aert and Benoot decided to spend some more time on the coast, but in the more northerly located Dénia. They are spending time there with their families.
Van Aert will restart on February 11th in the Clásica Almeria. After that, through the Clasica Jaén and the Tour of theAlgarve, he will prepare for his first major road races of 2024: the Opening Weekend with the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne.
