Mistakes: we all make them. Some people, perhaps more than others, and some mistakes are bigger than others. UCI boss David Lappartient made what appeared to be a minor mistake on Sunday, but it may have rubbed salt into Tadej Pogacar's wounds. In any case, it was quite rude of the Frenchman. Congratulations came from all over the world, but the most notable was from UCI boss Lappartient. At the end of the day, the 52-year-old Frenchman posted a congratulatory message on social media to the two winners of the time trial. At least, that was the intention.

Lappartient types wrong name in congratulatory message
“Congratulations to Marlen Reusser and Tadej Pogacar! Two fantastic performances today to claim the first two rainbow jerseys of the World Championships in Rwanda,”
it said. Of course, that should have been
Remco Evenepoel, not Tadej Pogacar.
In doing so, the UCI boss unintentionally rubbed some extra salt in the Slovenian's wounds. Those wounds could well be deep, as Pogacar had a painful Sunday. The UAE star started two and a half minutes before Evenepoel, but two kilometers from the finish line, Pogi was overtaken by the eventual world champion. Ouch.
The tweet has since been edited, and Tadej Pogacar's name has been changed to Remco Evenepoel. At least we still have the photo!
