Soudal Quick-Step secure first signing and bring in young Lidl-Trek sprinter

Soudal Quick-Step has made its first signing of the season. The Belgian team, which will compete as Soudal Safety Jogger from 2027, have recruited Tim Torn Teutenberg. The 24-year-old German arrives from Lidl-Trek and has signed a two-year contract. He will strengthen the team’s Classics squad while also providing another valuable option in the sprints.

Teutenberg has been part of Lidl-Trek’s development pathway since 2021. After spending five years in the lower divisions, he officially stepped up to the WorldTour team in 2025. He demonstrated his speed with strong sprint finishes at the Tour Down Under, Tour de Pologne and Baloise Belgium Tour. He also became an increasingly visible presence during the spring Classics, finishing 12th at the Tour of Bruges.

The young German comes from a family with a rich cycling history. His father, Lars, was a professional rider, while his uncle Sven enjoyed greater success, recording six professional victories and completing seven Grand Tours. His aunt Ina-Yoko is one of the most successful female cyclists of all time, while Tim Torn’s sister, Lea Lin Teutenberg, has competed professionally in women’s cycling since 2018. She currently rides for Lotto-Intermarché. “At the same time, I also want to keep progressing as a sprinter, so next season will be about finding the right balance between those two areas.”

Among the Classics, one race stands above all others for Teutenberg. “I have never ridden Paris-Roubaix as a professional, but I hope that joining this team will give me the opportunity to do so and to support the team as well as possible in the fight for a great result on the French cobbles.”

He has the speed to compete in bunch sprints, he can perform well in the Classics, and he has also demonstrated his qualities in time trials and on the track.
