Mads Pedersen’s spring preparations looked to be in ruins after his heavy crash at the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, with the Dane suffering fractures to his wrist and collarbone. But the Lidl–Trek leader may be ahead of schedule already, as he has now popped up at the team’s training camp — and crucially, back on the road. Pedersen previously
explained how the crash happened in a narrow descent, where riders ahead left no space through a left-hand corner. He then hit the ground hard after flipping over.
In mid-February, the former world champion still sounded far from optimistic about what remained of his spring. “It already looks very difficult now,” he said. “One more setback and it might be impossible. But I have to try — for myself and for the guys around me. I have to try to make it work.”

Pedersen appears at Lidl–Trek training camp in Spain
Still, on Wednesday evening, more hopeful images surfaced on
X. In a short video posted by cycling blogger Lukás Ronald Lukács, Pedersen can be seen riding outside again — alongside Lidl–Trek teammates currently on camp in Spain.
Lukács also shared words from teammate Mathias Norsgaard, who said he was caught off guard when he realised who it was. “I turned around and suddenly saw a Lidl–Trek rider with a team car behind him. I thought: ‘What on earth is that?’ When I got closer, I saw those rainbow stripes,” Norsgaard said, recognising Pedersen.
And the pace? Norsgaard sounded suitably impressed: “I’m telling you — he’s not riding at 300 watts. He’s riding at a speed I’d struggle to hold. I only thought: ‘That’s unbelievable.’” Are the miracles really not over yet for Pedersen’s spring campaign? Time will tell.
