These are the riders, plans and ambitions for Visma | Lease a Bike in the upcoming Vuelta a Espana

Vingegaard enters the race as the top favorite. “I’m really looking forward to this Vuelta,” he said. “After the Tour, I took some time to recover and then started preparing for this next big goal of my season. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been at an individual training camp with support from the team on-site.”

The Dane has a special connection to the Spanish grand tour. “I rode my first grand tour here in 2020, which we won with Primoz Roglic. In 2023, we completed our trilogy and stood together on the final podium in Madrid. Hopefully, we can add more beautiful memories this year.”

“I'm coming here for the overall victory,” said the team’s leader. “With the support of this team, that feels like a realistic goal. There are a lot of stages where gaps can be made, so we need to be sharp right from the start. I’m ready and honestly, I’d prefer if the race started today.”  

Head of Racing Grischa Niermann outlines Visma | Lease a Bike’s plans. “The overall win is our main goal, let’s not beat around the bush. Jonas is our team leader and our best shot at victory. But with Sepp Kuss, we also have a former winner on the start line, and Matteo Jorgenson has recovered well after the Tour de France. Add to that Wilco Kelderman, Ben Tulett, Victor Campenaerts, Dylan van Baarle, and Axel Zingle, and we’ve got a team that can support Jonas on every front.”

“We’ll need to be sharp every single day, but that’s the nature of a grand tour,” the German continued. “There are plenty of interesting stages coming up, like the team time trial and the individual time trial on stage 18. And of course, summit finishes like the Angliru and Bola del Mundo are always something special.”
