How are things with
Jonas Vingegaard? The Dane from
Visma | Lease a Bike has not been in action since his crash in Paris-Nice but is currently preparing for upcoming challenges in the Sierra Nevada. On Monday, the team will hold a press conference with their Tour de France leader, but we have already seen glimpses of a confident Vingegaard via some of his current and former teammates.
While the
Giro d'Italia is in full swing, the big favorites for the Tour de France are preparing at altitude for what lies ahead. Vingegaard and Pogacar, along with many other teams and riders,
are in the Sierra Nevada.
"If he is at altitude with the team in the Sierra Nevada in May, we will have him at a high level. That program also worked in 2022 and 2023. In a few weeks, he will be ahead of schedule compared to previous seasons," said Tim Heemskerk, Vingegaard's coach.
Nathan Van Hooydonck and
Tiesj Benoot also shared photos of a smiling Vingegaard on their Instagram accounts, who clearly looked happier than after his crash in Paris-Nice. According to the Danish national coach, Vingegaard will indeed ride the World Championships in Rwanda. He suffered a concussion and had to skip the Tour of Catalonia as a result. His comeback is scheduled for the Critérium du Dauphiné, where he will also face Pogacar.
