On Sunday, a new edition of the Tour of Poland came to an end, with Brandon McNulty (UAE Emirates-XRG) taking the time trial and overall victory. On behalf of Visma | Lease a Bike, Attila Valter and Menno Huising finished in the top thirty of the general classification, with the Dutch team securing two stage wins in the seven-day race in Poland.
In the final weekend, Visma | Lease a Bike was unable to put up a serious challenge for the overall victory, as it was unable to keep up with the best in Saturday's queen stage. “Both Olav Kooij and Matthew Brennan gave it their all in the breakaway, but unfortunately, the group never got much space from the peloton.”
"It proved impossible for them to survive the final climbs of the day,’ said the team, seeing their chosen tactic of getting the fast men far ahead in the race go up in smoke. ‘Menno and Attila also put in a great effort in the final stages in the second group, but there was not much more to be achieved today."

Brennan still went full AND good in time trial

On Sunday, Brennan finished an impressive eleventh in the individual time trial. “Matthew was determined to get a good result today, and he succeeded. Technically, it was a very strong display, and his numbers were great. The fact that he can do such a strong time trial on the seventh day of a WorldTour stage race is another big step in his development. He can be proud of this,” said sports director Jesper Mørkøv.
The Dane was able to draw up a positive final report on behalf of the team. “It’s been a great seven days for the team. With Olav and Matthew, we took two beautiful stage wins, both the result of strong teamwork. That’s something we can be happy about as a team.”
Kooij even won in Poland for the fourth year in a row. “That’s quite special. On top of that, Olav rode strongly in the penultimate stage, which featured a lot of climbing. This week is a great boost for him toward the rest of his season. We’re all looking forward to that.” The sprinter is now racing in Hamburg and will then head to the Renewi Tour and Tour of Britain.
