Wout van Aert skips Bretagne Classic despite earlier communications

Wout van Aert, despite earlier reports, will not be at the start of the Bretagne Classic this Sunday. The Belgian rider from Visma | Lease a Bike is currently staying on the Côte d'Azur, where he will prepare for the two Canadian WorldTour classics in Quebec and Montreal.
“Wout van Aert will not start in Bretagne Classic despite earlier communications. After the Deutschland Tour, it was decided to skip Plouay and focus on preparing for the two Canadian races,” said Visma | Lease a Bike.
The Belgian had previously added Hamburg to his calendar to start the Deutschland Tour with an extra day of racing.
After the Canadian races, Van Aert will only ride the Super 8 Classic in Belgium on Saturday, September 20.

What he did was unique and exceptional but he wasn't the only one who combined those distances, nowadays it is just not possible and nobody competes in both distances. The same is true for cycling with for example the combination of Roubaix and de Tour de France.
