Tom Pidcock shows mountain bike form: Brit solos to European Title in Portugal weeks before Vuelta start

Pidcock was recently the best in the World Cup in ‘his’ Andorra and continued his mountain bike summer in Portugal with a European Championship title. In a few weeks, he will also be at the start of the Vuelta a España.

The Q36.5 rider rode away from his compatriot Charlie Aldridge just before the halfway point, who eventually finished second, 37 seconds behind. Denmark's Simon Andreassen finished third.

In the women's race, the victory went to Jenny Rissveds of Sweden. She won with a 1.19 minute lead over Britain's Evie Richards, while Switzerland's Nicole Koller finished third.
