Just one year ago, he won the Olympic title in mountain biking in Paris, but on Sunday, Tom Pidcock was not in the French capital to ride the last Tour stage. Instead, the Brit was participating in the European Mountain Bike Championships in Portugal, where he won the cross-country title. Pidcock was recently the best in the World Cup in ‘his’ Andorra and continued his mountain bike summer in Portugal with a European Championship title. In a few weeks, he will also be at the start of the Vuelta a España.
The Q36.5 rider rode away from his compatriot Charlie Aldridge just before the halfway point, who eventually finished second, 37 seconds behind. Denmark's Simon Andreassen finished third.

Rissveds wins in the women's race
In the women's race,
the victory went to Jenny Rissveds of Sweden. She won with a 1.19 minute lead over Britain's Evie Richards, while Switzerland's Nicole Koller finished third.
