Kasia Niewiadoma asks teammate Dygert to "go full throttle" after crash and takes the yellow jersey

After the bizarre climax of the fifth stage of the Tour de France Femmes, in which Demi Vollering lost the yellow jersey due to a crash, there were also winners. Kasia Niewiadoma (Canyon//SRAM Racing) crossed the line in second place and took the yellow leader's jersey. The Pole and her teammate Chloe Dygert appeared afterward, filled with bravado, before the organization's and Eurosport's cameras.

"It feels exceptional," began the 29-year-old Pole. "I only just heard that I got the yellow. I'm thrilled, also for my teammates and everyone who put in the time and effort to get us in this leader's jersey."

"The stage, in general, was very chaotic," Niewiadoma continued. "I think all the stages have been very hectic and dangerous. We knew we had to stay at the front. We didn't do any recon of the stage, so to stay out of the chaos, we had to be at the front," she explained.

"We are here to win"

Niewiadoma's teammate, Chloe Dygert, appeared on camera for Eurosport. She did not think about waiting for the yellow jersey. "We are here to win. We are also here to do what Kasia (Niewiadoma, ed.) needs. She asked me to go full throttle, so I did. We have the yellow now, so it's a big day for us. We worked hard for this all year," concluded the American.
