Thymen Arensman had a great day in the Tour de France on Saturday, but not everything went according to plan for his team, INEOS Grenadiers. One of the sports directors accidentally hit a spectator on the Col de Peyresourde, as can be seen in images circulating on social media.
At the moment Arensman was riding solo in the lead in the tough mountain stage of the Tour de France, teammate Carlos Rodríguez took the lead in the group behind. The British team's car was close behind and hit a supporter.
The person in question landed on the hood and then hit the ground, after which the INEOS Grenadiers car understandably came to a stop. Oliver Cookson, the sports director on duty, was punished after the race with a yellow card and a fine of 5,000 (!) Swiss francs.
