Picnic PostNL announced on Friday, August 15, that Charlotte Kool will leave the team with immediate effect. The Dutch sprinter’s departure was confirmed via a press release, and just minutes later her new team, Belgian outfit Fenix–Deceuninck, officially announced her signing.
“In nearly four seasons together, Charlotte has grown from a reliable lead-out into one of the most impressive sprinters in the peloton,” the team’s statement began. “From unforgettable stage wins at the Tour de France Femmes, including the special moment when she wore the yellow jersey, to victories across Europe, Charlotte has played a key role in the success story of our women’s program.”
The rider and team parted ways by mutual agreement. “After Charlotte became aware of the potential interest, her representatives and both teams entered into constructive discussions. This led to a solution that works well for all parties. Team Picnic PostNL thanks Charlotte for her commitment and achievements, and wishes her the best of luck with her new team.”

Kool explains departure: "Looking forward to take on a new challenge with my next team"

Speaking about her move, Charlotte Kool said: “I’ve always been very happy at Picnic PostNL and had no reason to leave. However, the interest from my new team presented an appealing challenge that I’m eager to take on. I’m grateful to my current team for the opportunities I’ve had to grow both as an athlete and as a person. I’m looking forward to embracing a new challenge with my next team, something made possible thanks to the cooperation of Picnic PostNL.”
Head coach Rudi Kemna added: “Charlotte has really developed with us over the past few years, and we’ve shared many great memories and successes together. We understand that she wants to take this opportunity; she’s a rider who truly fits our team, and perhaps we’ll welcome her back in the future. While we wish Charlotte the very best, we look ahead with motivation and ambition in our women’s program. We have a strong group and great quality across the board, and we’re confident we can continue building on that this season and beyond. We’re looking forward to carrying this momentum into our next races.”

Fenix–Deceuninck announced as Kool’s new team

Just over half an hour later, Kool’s new squad Fenix–Deceuninck confirmed the transfer. “She’s fast, she’s explosive, she’s here. Welcome, Charlotte Kool,” the Belgian team posted. “Ready for a brand new chapter.” Kool’s contract runs through the end of 2028.
Kool also shared her first words with her new team: “I’m ready for a new chapter in my career. From my very first conversation with the team, I had a genuine, positive feeling about their mentality and the confidence they’ve expressed in me. Of course, making a transfer mid-season comes with its challenges, but it feels right. I’ve been welcomed with open arms and I can’t wait to race in my new colors. My motivation has never been stronger.”
