Top that if you can. Thibau Nys is currently on a training camp in Spain, specifically in the Sierra Nevada. As he prepares for the Tour de France, the young and talented Belgian is hoping to build a strong foundation, but for a moment, that plan looked like it might go off the rails. Nys crashed during a descent, suffering a few scrapes to his face. But that didn’t slow him down, as seen on Instagram where he shared some impressive footage. There was a moment of concern last week when Nys took a spill during a training ride in southern Spain. Thankfully, it wasn’t too serious. The 22-year-old Belgian later commented: “Glad I came away without anything major. Be careful on descents, guys.” But if you thought that crash dented his confidence, think again, his latest
Instagram post proves otherwise.
In the video, he can be seen doing a wheelie in front of his teammates. And not just any wheelie, he did it on his time trial bike. Oh, and it wasn’t a short one either. And yes, it was uphill.

After the crash and wheelie, the focus shifts back to the Tour
For Nys, who fortunately escaped his crash without too much damage, his next race is just three weeks away. On June 18, he’ll pin on a race number at the Baloise Belgium Tour. He’s using it as preparation for the national championship on June 28 in Binche, where he hopes to make a bid for the Belgian tricolor jersey.
But his real target? That comes a week later. He’s expected to line up for his very first Tour de France. And right in the first week, a few stage finishes will be perfectly suited for punchy riders, one of the young Belgian’s standout strengths. Whether he’ll actually be on the start line remains to be seen.
