Disastrous day for BORA-hansgrohe: In addition to Roglic's crash in the Basque Country, Kämna was involved in an accident in Tenerife

Lennard Kämna was involved in a traffic accident during training in Tenerife on Wednesday, reports BORA-hansgrohe. The German team, in a brief statement, could not provide much detail, other than the fact that the 27-year-old rider was taken to the hospital for examination.

The news about Kämna broke just minutes after the finish of the third stage in the Tour of the Basque Country, where team leader Primoz Roglic crashed hard. The Slovenian managed to finish the stage but was battered on his right side.

Kämna and Roglic are positioned as the team's lead riders for the first two grand tours of this season. Kämna is set to head to the Giro d'Italia as the lead general classification contender, with Daniel Felipe Martinez by his side. Since his move from Visma | Lease a Bike, Roglic has been the main contender for the Tour de France in July, where Kämna is expected to play a crucial supporting role there.

As more information becomes available about both riders, we will provide updates here.
