Movistar has taken an essential step towards the new season. The Spanish team has extended the contracts of no fewer than six male riders, and three female riders have also been given new contracts. These include revelation Orluis Aular, as well as Nairo Quintana, who will continue for another year late in his career. New signing Cian Uijtdebroeks will thus have an experienced domestique staying on longer.
Of those renewing their contracts, Aular made a particularly strong impression in 2025. The Venezuelan joined from Caja Rural - Seguros RGA in the winter and was invaluable to his new team in the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a España. In Italy, he sprinted to a podium place twice, and in Spain, he achieved this three times. Based on UCI points won, he was the team's most valuable rider. That is why they have decided to sign him until 2028.
In that respect, Quintana had an unspectacular season. The 35-year-old Colombian finished sixth in the Vuelta a Murcia and 25th in the Giro d'Italia, but his peak is already far behind him. Nevertheless, the Spanish team decided to offer him a new contract. With his experience (he is starting his 15th professional season), he is invaluable, for example, to new team leader Uijtdebroeks.

Experienced Oliveira continues

Movistar has also extended the contracts of Jefferson Alveiro Cepeda (until 2028), Albert Torres (2026), and two veterans: Jorge Arcas and Nelson Oliveira. The duo, aged 33 and 36 respectively, joined the Spanish team in 2016 and have not looked back since. Together, they have competed in 24(!) Grand Tours during that time. Both Oliveira and Arcas have decided to continue until at least 2027.
The women's team has also signed three riders to more extended contracts. Brazilian Ana Vitória Magalhães, French Aude Biannic, and Spanish Sara Martín. Magalhães has been riding with the team since this year and has signed until 2029. Biannic has been with Movistar since 2018 and will continue until at least 2027. Martín, the Spanish champion, has signed a three-year contract.
