Here's how much money did Tadej Pogačar and UAE got for winning the Tour de France

Money is desperately needed in the world of cycling. Of course, sponsors are the main source of income for teams, but prize money can also bring in a significant amount of cash. The Tour de France is the place to do just that. After 21 days of grueling racing, the final tally has been calculated. It should come as no surprise which team earned the most, but there are some unpleasant surprises at the bottom of the list.

As expected, UAE Team Emirates-XRG raked in by far the most prize money during the Tour. Tadej Pogačar won five stages and the overall classification, while Isaac Del Toro also won a stage, finished third in the general classification, and took home the white jersey. The result: the Emirati team is returning home with 832,750 euros in prize money—more than a third of the total prize money distributed.

The gap to the next team is therefore significant. Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe is in second place, largely thanks to Remco Evenepoel. The Belgian won two stages in a row and finished second in the general classification. Even with Florian Lipowitz’s withdrawal, the total stands at 288,160 euros.

Thanks to two top-ten finishes in the general classification (Mattias Skjelmose and Juan Ayuso) and Mads Pedersen’s stage victory and green jersey, Lidl-Trek has earned a whopping 204,870 euros. Decathlon CMA CGM earned 165,530 euros thanks to Paul Seixas’s fourth-place finish and Olav Kooij’s sprint victory, EF Education-EasyPost is led by Richard Carapaz’s two stage wins, the mountains jersey, and his incredible fighting spirit, bringing in 124,160 euros.

Alpecin-Premier Tech has certainly had better years, but it still has no reason to complain with two stage wins by Mathieu van der Poel and one by Jasper Philipsen. The green jersey was not secured, so the total stands at 87,840 euros. Visma | Lease a Bike is having a disappointing Tour due to Jonas Vingegaard’s withdrawal. He had hoped to make a big push in the final week, but now the Dutch team is stuck at 71,210 euros—a fraction of UAE’s prize money.

If we scroll further down, Netcompany INEOS stands out as a negative surprise. Team leader Oscar Onley was unable to start, and Kévin Vauquelin’s preparation was hampered by a virus. They also had a lot of bad luck in the Tour, and things just didn’t quite work out. The total: 23,760 euros, even though the British team is one of the five wealthiest teams.

Only six teams scored fewer points: Movistar, Tudor, Cofidis, and Groupama-FDJ all had little success. Caja Rural - Seguros RGA, the Tour debutant, is near the bottom of the list with 13,570 euros, but Picnic PostNL is at the very bottom. The Dutch team has already had a nightmare of a year, and this Tour is just another chapter in that story. The team raised 12,770 euros.
