In the shadow of everything that happened on Saturday in the Giro d'Italia, the 2025 edition of Unbound Gravel took place in the United States. Once again, numerous well-known riders from the Low Countries participated in Kansas, although the victories did not ultimately go to a Dutch rider. Tom Dumoulin was supposed to start the 100-mile race, but a crash during the recon meant that the former Giro winner did not start in Emporia, Kansas. Dumoulin, an ambassador for Giant, was there to cheer on the other riders. Christian Hayden was ultimately the best in the 100-mile race.
Many well-known names took part in the 200-mile race, including Dutch riders Niki Terpstra, Joris Nieuwenhuis, and
Ramon Sinkeldam and Belgians Thomas De Gendt, Greg Van Avermaet, Tim Declercq, and Jelle van Damme, but none of them could compete for the victory.
New Zealander Cameron Jones
ultimately won the fastest edition of the 200 miles ever. He rode away with Simon Pellaud (ex-Tudor) in the opening phase and eventually left the Swiss rider behind in the final phase. Ramon Sinkeldam was the best Dutch rider in sixth place, while Jasper Ockeloen finished ninth. Daan Soete was the best Belgian in thirteenth place. In the women's race, Karolina Migoń from Poland won.

And then there was
Laurens ten Dam, who competed in the 350-mile XL Unbound. The Dutchman finished fourth in that distance after no less than 19 hours, 17 minutes, and 10 seconds. Canadian Rob Britton won the XL version in 17 hours, 49 minutes, and 51 seconds. Lachlan Morton, last year's winner of the 200 miles, finished second.
