Between the spring classics and the Giro d'Italia, part of the WorldTour peloton heads to Switzerland for the
Tour de Romandie.
Tadej Pogačar is the star attraction this year, and he arrives with a strong supporting cast. IDL Pro Cycling runs through the riders and bib numbers.
Pogačar — who has never won Romandie and travels direct from Liège for
his first stage race of 2026 — is supported in Switzerland by Felix Großschartner, Vegard Stake Laengen, Domen Novak, Ivo Oliveira, Pavel Sivakov and Kevin Vermaerke.
The competition is likely to come from Oscar Onley (INEOS Grenadiers), Florian Lipowitz and Primož Roglič (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe), Antonio Tiberi and Lenny Martinez (Bahrain Victorious), and Luke Plapp of Jayco AlUla. Visma | Lease a Bike are counting on young gun
Jørgen Nordhagen.
Pogačar bullish ahead of Romandie debut
After being pushed by Paul Seixas to the final climb at Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Pogačar could be forgiven for tempering his pre-race comments. However, the world champion was very clear about his ambitions this week when
speaking to the press on arrival in Switzerland.
"Every stage is a good one to attack — but other teams will be thinking the same. There are so many chances this week, maybe even for a surprise attack. Every stage looks pretty good to give it a try," he explained the day before the race.
"I always want to win. It's no secret that I want to win here in Romandie too." Pogacar continued. "Every race is different and it's always hard to fight for the win. We'll see how the week unfolds. If I don't win, it's not the end of the world."
The Tour de Romandie runs from
Tuesday's prologue through to Sunday. For a full breakdown of the route and favourites, see
