The cycling world is in mourning following the news of Saïd Haddou’s death. The former French cyclist, who won the
Tro-Bro Léon twice during his career, was 43 years old.
Haddou was born in Issy-les-Moulineaux in November 1982. After riding for several smaller French teams, he turned pro with Auber 93 in 2005. In 2007, he moved to Bouygues Telecom, which later became Team Europcar. He remained there until the end of his career in late 2012.
After that, Haddou remained involved in cycling—first as a team director, then as a motorcyclist in the peloton. The Frenchman worked for France Télévisions and was thus active in events such as the Tour de France. Haddou was reportedly killed in a tragic traffic collision while riding a motorcycle, according to
l'Équipe.
Rest in peace, Saïd.
