Tadej Pogacar won the Tour de France for the fourth time, but there wasn't really much nail-biting suspense. The Slovenian rider from UAE Emirates-XRG certainly didn't receive any gifts from runner-up Jonas Vingegaard, but the Dane from Visma | Lease a Bike was ultimately unable to threaten the world champion. After the Tour de France, the Killer Bees had nothing but praise for their Slovenian rival.
After just five days, Vingegaard was already falling behind. The Dane lost a lot of time to Pogacar and other rivals in the time trial won by Remco Evenepoel, after which the thrill of the GC was gone. After a strong performance by Pogi in the Pyrenees, the Dane entered the third week with optimism, but the Visma | Lease a Bike leader was unable to gain any ground.
After the race, the overall winner had kind words for the number two in the GC. “Before the start, I spoke with Jonas about how much has changed in recent years,” Pogacar said on Sunday after stage 21. “We've been racing against each other in the Tour for five years now and pushing each other to a higher level. We have to push our limits to beat each other, so I have to give him credit for that. He fought really hard, and I want to congratulate him on that.”

Visma | Lease a Bike releases statement for Pogacar: "You are the deserved winner"

Visma | Lease a Bike had some kind words to say on Monday. The team posted a beautiful statement on Instagram. "Tade𝐉onas," the yellow and black team captioned the message, immediately followed by congratulations. “Congratulations, Tadej Pogacar. You are the deserved winner of the 2025 Tour de France. You help us live up to one of our core values: bringing out the very best in ourselves.”
Visma | Lease a Bike once again emphasizes the importance of rivalry in sport. “It’s what makes sport so beautiful: the rivalry between two great champions that keeps people on the edge of their seats and makes them fall in love with the sport. Just like Ali and Frazier stood in the ring, like Federer and Nadal clashed on the tennis court, like Messi and Ronaldo pushed each other on the pitch,” the team makes several comparisons.
Despite some bickering during the Tour, there is absolutely no animosity within the Dutch team. "Not enemies, but rivals who make each other better. Two champions pushing one another to the limit. Over these past weeks, you fought for more than just the yellow jersey. You fought to give our sport the stage it deserves."
"Tadej and Jonas, the rivals of an already incredibly strong cycling generation. The champions of our cycling hearts. Here’s to many more of these epic battles in the future, guys!"
