Pidcock and his brother Joey raced for the the dame team
Joey Pidcock joined his brother Tom at Pinarello Q36.5
After riding for the Groupama-FDJ United development team and the British team Trinity Racing (where Tom Pidcock also began his career), the Pidcock brothers joined Pinarello-Q36.5 in 2025.
Tom Pidcock joined as the team’s lead rider, while his younger brother Joey served as a support rider.
The youngest Pidcock rode his heart out for two seasons, but whenever he competed in major races, he often ended up with a DNF.
In the Tour of Guangxi, he rode alongside his older brother one last time; his brother ultimately finished second in the overall standings. “You should have done a lead-out for me—I would have won easily,” Joey joked in
an Instagram post.
Joey Pidcock hard on himself in farewell post
In the same Instagram post, Tom announced that Joey was stepping down. After a little less than two weeks of reflection, Joey Pidcock wrote on
his own social media channels: “I have so much to say, but now isn’t the time. I tried—I tried to be good at it and enjoy it,” he said.
Mentally, professional cycling proved to be a struggle for Pidcock. Although he ultimately reached the highest level, it now appears that he was never truly satisfied deep down.
That’s why his main takeaway from 2026 is: “I’m happy, because after every other year I just wanted to quit, but this year I don’t hate cycling, and I don’t want to.”
Pidcock is very grateful to the people who have supported him over the past few years. “Thanks to everyone who believed in me and never stopped cheering me on. You know who you are.”
