Urska Zigart reacts fiercely to comments about Pogačar's 'millions': 'Take care of yourself and your wife'

Zigart recently broke her jaw after crashing hard on Day 3 of the Faun Tour Femmes. She had been well on her way to a strong result there, in preparation for the World Cycling Championships, where she was set to compete as team leader later this month. However, Zigart will now have to sit out the World Championships, just like her fiancé Tadej Pogačar, who suffered fractures back in August during the Vuelta a España.

The two have gotten back on track at home in Monaco, but the blow will have hit Zigart especially hard. Earlier this year, the climber also broke her jaw during the Tour de Suisse and then managed to get herself ready just in time for the Tour de France Femmes. “This wasn’t the déjà vu I was expecting. Ever. Time to dig out my recipes from June,” she wrote cynically.

Zigart kept up the momentum on social media, because that same day she also came across a comment that clearly didn’t sit well with her.“Pogi makes millions. Kudos for racing for pocket change and injuries. Take good care of your health, dear Urska,” wrote someone named Sebastjan. The comments clearly got under Zigart’s skin.

"Exactly. Pogi deserves it, and I'm just taking my 'change,'" she began her response. “But when couples like us break up, suddenly we’re always ‘those devilish bitches who only want money and haven’t done anything to earn it.’ So, you take care of yourself and your wife, and I’ll take care of myself. Have a nice Sunday.”

A powerful argument, given that Pogačar is undoubtedly seen far too often as the big star, and Zigart as “the fiancée of.” The two have been engaged since 2021, but a wedding hasn’t happened yet. Both athletes are incredibly busy with their sports—and now with their rehabilitation.
