Vollering had to wait in Van der Breggen's wheel
That Vollering waited until the final kilometer to make her move was part of the plan. “Anna (van der Breggen, ed.) tried to drop us by setting a high pace, but I knew I still had something left. I waited for the final steep section to attack and take the win. I didn’t need to take any risks today, but I really wanted to win the stage. So I had to wait, which wasn’t easy, because I was eager. In the end, I got the green light and gave everything to the finish line,” laughed the overall winner.
