2026 Men’s World Time Trial Championships start list | Evenepoel and Ganna see two medal contenders drop out

The 2026 World Cycling Championships in Montreal, Canada, kick off on Sunday with the elite women’s and men’s time trial events. Remco Evenepoel once again tops the starting list, but who else is in the running this year? IDL Pro Cycling lists all the participants!

All countries have now been required to submit their provisional start lists to the UCI, but many cycling federations have also already officially announced their participants.

We already knew that Belgium—thanks to defending champion Evenepoel—would field three riders: Evenepoel himself, as well as Alec Segaert and Rune Herregodts. Daan Hoole is the only rider competing for the Netherlands.

On paper, Filippo Ganna looks set to be Evenepoel’s main challenger, while the World Time Trial Championships have also had to deal with some withdrawals. Jay Vine (who fell ill during the Vuelta) and Joshua Tarling (due to the tragic death of his younger brother Finlay) are not on the provisional start list, though the Great Britain team selection has yet to be officially announced.

As is well known, stage racers Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard will not be participating either, unlike Paul Seixas and Isaac del Toro.
