Jakobsen has no chance for stage victory in Oman, but does not panic: "In terms of teamwork, we've shown everything is all good"

Fabio Jakobsen can live with his ninth place in the first stage of the Tour of Oman. This particular stage, which was the first and probably only opportunity for the sprinters in the peloton to make something happen, the Dutchman was not contending for the win during an difficult, uphill finish.

Through a press release on his team DSM-Firmenich PostNL's website, Jakobsen has commented on Saturday afternoon's race. Naturally, the Dutch top sprinter is not satisfied with the result, yet he praises the team. "The guys worked well for me and positioned me well in the final stretch, but I got a bit caught up in the chaos."

Jakobsen is disappointed, but does not show panic: "believe results will follow soon"

"The guys made huge efforts to bring back the breakaways and keep me safe. In that regard, it was really a good day." But following those efforts, Jakobsen could not make an impact in the sprint: "I got caught up in the chaos and couldn't really open my sprint, even though I was in a good position at one kilometer from the finish."

However, Jakobsen is confident that there is no need for DSM-Firmenich PostNL to panic. "We need to do better in terms of results, but today shows that in terms of teamwork, everything is all good. We look forward to the upcoming opportunities and are convinced that the results will follow soon," says the sprint ace.
