Mohoric aims to deliver another striking feat for Bahrain-Victorious in Milan-San Remo: "I believe in my chances of winning"

Bahrain Victorious released its lineup for Milan-San Remo on Thursday morning. The team is entering La Primavera with former winner Matej Mohoric, but with Fred Wright and sprinter Matevz Govekar, Bahrain has other strong contenders as well.

"Returning to Milan-San Remo always gives me a special feeling," says the 2022 edition's winner on the team website. "I have felt very good so far this season, and I am really looking forward to this year's race. I believe I have a chance to win, and I will seize that opportunity if it comes my way. I will have a lot of support from my teammates again this year. We really need to be patient and wait for the right moment to make our move on Saturday."

Team director Pellizotti hopes for a Mohoric podium

Team director Franco Pellizotti also shared his thoughts. "You need a perfect day, but also the legs to win the unpredictable Milan-San Remo. Last year, our guys showed impressive teamwork on the Poggio for our leader, and I hope to see this kind of team spirit and commitment again, and of course, we aim for success with Matej. Given the contenders, our goal is at least a podium finish, though a top-ten is also valuable in a Monument. I expect a rider like Fred Wright to make his mark sooner or later. He's in good shape and will be ready for any sprint opportunities that might arise in the finale."

Pellizotti also highlights "the fundamental importance of the Cipressa." "Our riders, especially the young debutants Nicolò Buratti, Matevz Govekar, and Fran Miholjevic, will work to fulfill this task. The experience of our road captains Nikias Arndt and Andrea Pasqualon will also be crucial to provide support after the Cipressa and ensure optimal positioning for the Poggio. Milan-San Remo might seem straightforward in terms of strategy, but its unpredictability makes it one of the toughest races to win."
