Slovenia had to compete in this European Championship without its star rider, Tadej Pogačar, but fortunately, veteran Primož Roglič was there. The experienced rider further cemented his legendary status in his home country by winning the European Championship (time trial) on Wednesday.

Roglič beat French pair to take gold
Roglič finished ahead of the two French riders, Bruno Armirail and Maxime Decomble, on the 22-kilometer course.

The rider, who normally rides for Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe and will compete in the Tour of Lombardy alongside Remco Evenepoel on Saturday, gained time on the climb in the first stage and maintained his lead.
"Of course, it's for me, but I think it's also for all the people who have been here all these days—not just today. For all the people who made it possible to organize these championships in Slovenia. So I think it's just... yes, a wonderful conclusion to this event for all of us. Thank you all, and cheers,” said Roglic.

Roglič won European Time Trial Championship without a radio
When asked where Roglic had won, he gave a typical Roglic answer. “I don’t really know, because my radio had stopped working. It probably cut out in the first kilometre of the race, so I was completely lost,” he laughed.
In the end, it didn't bother him that much.
"I just went with my instincts, so we'll have to take a closer look at that and check it out. But yeah, I gave it absolutely everything I had, and luckily it was enough, so I'm really happy."
