Movistar will have a new Spanish rider in its ranks in the coming years. Roger Adrià is leaving Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe and signing a three-year contract with Movistar. “A dream come true,” said the 27-year-old rider on the Movistar team website. This is only the second incoming transfer announced by the Spanish team. Adrià raced for Equipe Kern Pharma for four years from 2020, after which he competed at WorldTour level for Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe for the past two seasons. Adrià won the first stage of the Tour of Burgos this year after favorites Del Toro and Ciccone
crashed in the final meters. Adrià also has the GP Wallonie (2024) to his name.
“Signing for
Movistar Team means fulfilling a dream,” Adrià begins his story. “Almost all Spanish cyclists, from a young age, dream of racing for this team, as it is the squad with the most history in the international peloton. So, it’s truly a dream come true.” This year, Adrià finished third in the Spanish road championship.
The Catalan adds, “I think it's an important step in my career. A team that better suits my personality and my culture. A team where I can find a place to shine and use my qualities.” Following the
recent announcement of Raul Garcia Pierna's transfer, this is the second incoming transfer for the Spanish
Movistar team.

Movistar still not very active on the transfer market
However, the team that Adrià is leaving, Red Bull-BORA hansgrohe, has already made several incoming transfers. The best known in that list is undoubtedly Remco Evenepoel, who is leaving Soudal Quick-Step. The same applies to Mattia Cattaneo. With Gianni Vermeersch (Alpecin-Deceuninck), it has already brought in a similar type to Adrià.
Movistar has so far been relatively quiet on the transfer market. The Spanish team has expiring contracts, but it is not yet known whether they will be renewed. Nairo Quintana and Fernando Gaviria are among those whose contracts are expiring. Mathias Norsgaard is the only player to have left so far: the Dane is moving to Lidl-Trek.
