Ben Turner's departure from Netcompany INEOS isn't all that surprising once you hear his story: 'The team I looked up to'

Ben Turner has signed a contract with Soudal Quick-Step. Turner has long been considered the crown jewel of Netcompany INEOS' Classics team. With this move, The Wolfpack is making another push to strengthen the area in which they used to be so dominant. The 27-year-old Briton is now leaving a familiar environment behind in search of a new challenge.

Turner comes from the Trinity Racing development program, a well-known breeding ground for top British talent in particular. He signed a contract with INEOS for 2022, where he has emerged in recent years as a classics specialist with a strong sprint and, at times, a strong time trial.

He won the Tour of Murcia in 2023 and followed that up in 2025 with sprint stage victories in the Tour of Poland and the Vuelta a España. In the classics, he hadn’t quite figured it all out during his years racing in the UK. Crashes were often to blame.

At Soudal Quick-Step, Turner will be joining a team built for the classics. The Belgian squad features top sprinter Paul Magnier, but also signed Dylan van Baarle and Jasper Stuyven last year. Turner will be a welcome addition to that strong trio.

With a three-year contract, Soudal Quick-Step is showing a great deal of confidence in Turner, who is happy to take the plunge. “It’s a privilege to ride for this team; I’ve always dreamed of being a part of it, ever since I watched the classics with my father as a little boy,” he said in a press release.

"Quick-Step was always the team I looked up to, seeing how they handled things in the race, even when I turned pro," said Turner. "After talking with Jurgen Foré (CEO, ed.), I felt that we were on the same page, so that’s why I’m looking forward to being part of this organization starting in 2027."

At The Wolfpack, Turner wants to become “a better rider” and, above all, he wants to win more races. Foré sees that happening, too. “I’ve been following Ben for quite some time; he’s the kind of rider who will quickly find his place on our team. He has the right mindset and character for The Wolfpack. He can perform well in the classics and stage races, but he can also contribute in all kinds of races.”

Soudal Quick-Step also signed Lorenzo Milesi from Movistar during this transfer window.
