Primož Roglič hit by car in training, forced to change Vuelta a España preparation

Primož Roglič was hit by a car while training several days ago, the Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe rider has revealed on his social media channels. The 36-year-old Slovenian has spent several weeks preparing for the Vuelta a España, but the collision has now disrupted his planned build-up to the Spanish Grand Tour.

Roglič last raced at the end of June, when he won the Slovenian national time trial title before finishing fourth in the road race. His most recent appearance for Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe came one week earlier at the Tour de Suisse, where he was unable to challenge for the overall victory and eventually finished eighth.

After a long training block focused entirely on the Vuelta a España, Roglič had been scheduled to return to competition at the Clásica San Sebastián on Saturday. He was then due to ride the Vuelta a Burgos, giving him two valuable opportunities to regain race rhythm before the Vuelta.

“We will keep working and hopefully things will turn around,” added the four-time Vuelta winner. Roglič is entering his final months with Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe. He is expected to ride for another team in 2027, although his next destination has not yet been confirmed. Pinarello-Q36.5 has recently been mentioned as one possible option.
