Beautiful scenes from Switzerland on Saturday: Tadej Pogacar was spotted by the Tour de Romandie organizers standing along the course as a spectator. The Tour de France winner is in the Alpine country to support his partner, Urska Zigart, something he combined with a casual bike ride. After the Tour de France, Pogacar eased off a bit to spend time with Urska, but she, of course, has her own race schedule. The Slovenian rider is competing in the Tour de Romandie and started strong on Friday, taking second in the time trial.
The UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider stood modestly at the roadside with his rainbow-colored bike on Saturday, and, just like any other fan, picked up a discarded bidon.
Pogacar himself will return to racing in mid-September at the GP Québec. After that, he’ll ride the GP Montréal, the World Championships, the European Championships, and Il Lombardia. As for Zigart, she’ll be looking to build on what’s already been a strong season, including a fifth place at the Tour de Suisse and ninth at the Giro, with more success in Romandie.
